Microneedling

IMG_1090.HEIC

The go-to treatment if you desire to achieve that confident no-makeup look. Microneedling harvests the skins ability to naturally repair itself. This procedure creates tiny microchannels to the most superficial layer of the skin to induce the healing process and stimulate collagen production. This process has been shown to reduce the presence of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and improve tone and texture.

During treatment, the provider will carefully move the device over the desired treatment area, creating tiny punctures in the skin. The needle depth can be adjusted throughout treatment to accommodate various needs. Treatment typically takes less than an hour, but can vary depending on the desired treatment area. Temporary discomfort, similar to that of a mild sunburn, can occur afterwards. Recovery usually does not take long; most patients notice their skin has completely healed in as little as three days. Immediately after your microneedling procedure, your health care provider will apply a hyaluronic mask for 5-10 minutes and moisturizer.

What to expect

  • Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications (Ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil) for 1 week following your appointment.

  • DO NOT ice face or use arnica or bromelain. These agents may interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.

  • Use Tylenol as needed for soreness.

  • Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks. After 24 hours, always use a full spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or above. When exposed to the sun, wear a hat and apply sunscreen every two hours.

After your appointment

Recovery Timeline

  • Avoid strenuous exercises that cause sweating. Avoid jacuzzi, sauna, or steam baths for 24 hours after treatment due to open pores, or up to 48 hours if inflammation exists.

  • Use ONLY medical grade makeup post-procedure.

  • If needed, sleep on your back with head of bed elevated to minimize swelling or pain.

  • A sunburn-like effect is normal. The skin will feel tight, dry, and sensitive to the touch.

  • Redness or sensitivity might well be present. Some small bruising is common with PRP injections and may last up to 5-7 days, and swelling can last 2-4 days, depending on how aggressive of a treatment you received. Plan social calendar accordingly!

  • Treat skin gently, washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry no earlier than 4 hours after treatment.
